Vacuum polarization in Uranium

Abstract: We formulate the Hartree-Fock method using a functional integral approach. Then we consider a nonperturbative component of the vacuum polarization. For the Dirac-Coulomb operator the renormalization flow of the vacuum polarization is calculated numerically. For the Hartree-Fock operator the polarization is obtained by integrating an appropriately rescaled flow. Stochastic quantization of massive fermions

Abstract: We consider a general solution of the Langevin equation describing massive fermions to an appropriate boundary problem. Assuming existence of such solution we show that its correlators coincide with the Schwinger functions of corresponding Euclidean Quantum Field Theory. The gluon condensate in an effective SU(2) Yang-Mills theory

Abstract: We make progress towards a derivation of a low energy effective theory for SU(2) Yang-Mills theory. This low energy action is computed to 1-loop using the renormalization group technique, taking proper care of the Slavnov-Taylor identities in the Maximal Abelian Gauge. After that, we perform the Spin-Charge decomposition in a way proposed by L.D. Faddeev and A.J. Niemi. This low energy action is computed to 1-loop using the renormalization group technique, taking proper care of the Slavnov-Taylor identities in the Maximal Abelian Gauge. After that, we perform the Spin-Charge decomposition in a way proposed by L.D. Faddeev and A.J. Niemi. The resulting action describes a pair of non-linear O(3) nonlinear sigma models interacting with a scalar field. The potential of the scalar field is a Mexican hat and the location of the minima sets the energy scale of solitonic configurations of the sigma model fields whose excitations correspond to glueball states. △ Less

Renormalization of SU(2) Yang-Mills theory with Flow Equations

Abstract: We give a proof of perturbative renormalizability of SU(2) Yang--Mills theory in four-dimensional Euclidean space which is based on the Flow Equations of the renormalization group. The main motivation is to present a proof which does not make appear mathematically undefined objects (as for example dimensionally regularized generating functionals), which permits to parametrize the theory in terms o… ▽ More We give a proof of perturbative renormalizability of SU(2) Yang--Mills theory in four-dimensional Euclidean space which is based on the Flow Equations of the renormalization group. The main motivation is to present a proof which does not make appear mathematically undefined objects (as for example dimensionally regularized generating functionals), which permits to parametrize the theory in terms of {\it physical} renormalization conditions, and which allows to control the singularities of the correlation functions of the theory in the infrared domain. Thus a large part of the proof is dedicated to bounds on massless correlation functions. △ Less
