Measurements of the branching fractions of $Ξ_{c}^{+}\to Σ^{+}K_{S}^{0}$, $Ξ_{c}^{+}\to Ξ^{0}π^{+}$, and $Ξ_{c}^{+}\to Ξ^{0}K^{+}$ at Belle and Belle II

Abstract: Using 983.0 $\rm{fb}^{-1}$ and 427.9 $\rm{fb}^{-1}$ data samples collected with the Belle and Belle II detectors at the KEKB and SuperKEKB asymmetric energy $e^+e^-$ colliders, respectively, we present studies of the Cabibbo-favored $Ξ_c^+$ decays ${Ξ_{c}^{+}\to Σ^{+}K_{S}^{0}}$ and $Ξ_{c}^{+}\to Ξ^{0}π^{+}$, and the singly Cabibbo-suppressed decay $Ξ_{c}^{+}\to Ξ^{0}K^{+}$. The ratios of branching fractions of ${Ξ_{c}^{+}\to Σ^{+}K_{S}^{0}}$ and $Ξ_{c}^{+}\to Ξ^{0}K^{+}$ relative to that of $Ξ_{c}^{+}\toΞ^{-}π^{+}π^{+}$ are measured for the first time, while the ratio ${\cal B}(Ξ_{c}^{+}\toΞ^{0}π^{+})/{\cal B}(Ξ_{c}^{+}\toΞ^{-}π^{+}π^{+}) $ is also determined and improved by an order of magnitude in precision. The measured branching fraction ratios are $\frac{\cal{B}(Ξ_{c}^{+} \to Σ^{+}K_{S}^{0})}{\cal{B}(Ξ_{c}^{+}\to Ξ^{-}π^{+}π^+)}= 0.067 \pm 0.007 \pm 0.003$, $\frac{\cal{B}(Ξ_c^{+} \to Ξ^{0}π^{+})}{\cal{B}(Ξ_{c}^{+}\to Ξ^{-}π^{+}π^+)} = 0.248 \pm 0.005 \pm 0.009$, $\frac{\cal{B}(Ξ_c^{+} \to Ξ^{0}K^{+})}{\cal{B}(Ξ_{c}^{+}\to Ξ^{-}π^{+}π^+)} = 0.017 \pm 0.003 \pm 0.001$. Additionally, the ratio ${\cal B}(Ξ_{c}^{+}\toΞ^{0}K^{+})/{\cal B}(Ξ_{c}^{+}\toΞ^{0}π^{+})$ is measured to be $ 0.068 \pm 0.010 \pm 0.004$. Here, the first and second uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively. Multiplying the ratios by the branching fraction of the normalization mode, ${\mathcal B}(Ξ_{c}^{+}\toΞ^{-}π^{+}π^+)= (2.9\pm 1.3)\%$, we obtain the following absolute branching fractions ${\cal B}(Ξ_{c}^{+}\toΣ^{+}K^{0}_{S}) = (0.194 \pm 0.021 \pm 0.009 \pm 0.087 )%$, ${\cal B}(Ξ_{c}^{+}\toΞ^{0}π^{+}) = (0.719 \pm 0.014 \pm 0.024 \pm 0.322 )%$, ${\cal B}(Ξ_{c}^{+}\toΞ^{0}K^{+}) = (0.049 \pm 0.007 \pm 0.002 \pm 0.022 )%$. △ Less

Abstract: We present a study of $Ξ_{c}^{0}\toΞ^{0}π^{0}$, $Ξ_{c}^{0}\toΞ^{0}η$, and $Ξ_{c}^{0}\toΞ^{0}η^{\prime}$ decays using the Belle and Belle~II data samples, which have integrated luminosities of 980~$\mathrm{fb}^{-1}$ and 426~$\mathrm{fb}^{-1}$, respectively. By multiplying by the branching fraction of the normalization mode, ${\mathcal B}(Ξ_{c}^{0}\toΞ^{-}π^{+})$, we obtain the following absolute branching fraction results $(6.9 \pm 0.3 ({\rm stat}) \pm 0.5 ({\rm syst}) \pm 1.3 ({\rm norm})) \times 10^{-3}$, $(1.6 \pm 0.2 ({\rm stat}) \pm 0.2 ({\rm syst}) \pm 0.3 ({\rm norm})) \times 10^{-3}$, and $(1.2 \pm 0.3 ({\rm stat}) \pm 0.1 ({\rm syst}) \pm 0.2 ({\rm norm})) \times 10^{-3}$, for $Ξ_{c}^{0}$ decays to $Ξ^{0}π^{0}$, $Ξ^{0}η$, and $Ξ^{0}η^{\prime}$ final states, respectively. Measurement of Differential Distributions of $B \to D^* \ell \bar ν_\ell$ and Implications on $|V_{cb}|$

Abstract: We present a measurement of the differential shapes of exclusive $B\to D^* \ell \barν_\ell$ ($B = B^-, \bar{B}^0 $ and $\ell = e, μ$) decays with hadronic tag-side reconstruction for the full Belle data set of $711\,\mathrm{fb}^{-1}$ integrated luminosity. We extract the Caprini-Lellouch-Neubert (CLN) and Boyd-Grinstein-Lebed (BGL) form factor parameters and use an external input for the absolute… ▽ More We present a measurement of the differential shapes of exclusive $B\to D^* \ell \barν_\ell$ ($B = B^-, \bar{B}^0 $ and $\ell = e, μ$) decays with hadronic tag-side reconstruction for the full Belle data set of $711\,\mathrm{fb}^{-1}$ integrated luminosity. We extract the Caprini-Lellouch-Neubert (CLN) and Boyd-Grinstein-Lebed (BGL) form factor parameters and use an external input for the absolute branching fractions to determine the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa matrix element and find $|V_{cb}|_\mathrm{CLN} = (40.1\pm0.9)\times 10^{-3}$ and $|V_{cb}|_\mathrm{BGL} = (40.6\pm 0.9)\times 10^{-3}$ with the zero-recoil lattice QCD point $\mathcal{F}(1) = 0.906 \pm 0.013$. We also perform a study of the impact of preliminary beyond zero-recoil lattice QCD calculations on the $|V_{cb}|$ determinations. Additionally, we present the lepton flavor universality ratio $R_{eμ} = \mathcal{B}(B \to D^* e \barν_e) / \mathcal{B}(B \to D^* μ\barν_μ) = 0.990 \pm 0.021 \pm 0.023$, the electron and muon forward-backward asymmetry and their difference $ΔA_{FB}=0.022\pm0.026\pm 0.007$, and the electron and muon $D^*$ longitudinal polarization fraction and their difference $ΔF_L^{D^*} = 0.034 \pm 0.024 \pm 0.007$. Observation of $e^+e^-\toωχ_{bJ}(1P)$ and search for $X_b \to ωΥ(1S)$ at $\sqrt{s}$ near 10.75 GeV

Abstract: We study the processes $e^+e^-\toωχ_{bJ}(1P)$ ($J$ = 0, 1, or 2) using samples at center-of-mass energies $\sqrt{s}$ = 10.701, 10.745, and 10.805 GeV, corresponding to 1.6, 9.8, and 4.7 fb$^{-1}$ of integrated luminosity, respectively. These data were collected with the Belle II detector during special operations of the SuperKEKB collider above the $Υ(4S)$ resonance. We report the first observatio… ▽ More We study the processes $e^+e^-\toωχ_{bJ}(1P)$ ($J$ = 0, 1, or 2) using samples at center-of-mass energies $\sqrt{s}$ = 10.701, 10.745, and 10.805 GeV, corresponding to 1.6, 9.8, and 4.7 fb$^{-1}$ of integrated luminosity, respectively. These data were collected with the Belle II detector during special operations of the SuperKEKB collider above the $Υ(4S)$ resonance. We report the first observation of $ωχ_{bJ}(1P)$ signals at $\sqrt{s}$ = 10.745 GeV. By combining Belle II data with Belle results at $\sqrt{s}$ = 10.867 GeV, we find energy dependencies of the Born cross sections for $e^+e^-\to ωχ_{b1,b2}(1P)$ to be consistent with the shape of the $Υ(10753)$ state. These data indicate that the internal structures of the $Υ(10753)$ and $Υ(10860)$ states may differ. Including data at $\sqrt{s}$ = 10.653 GeV, we also search for the bottomonium equivalent of the $X(3872)$ state decaying into $ωΥ(1S)$. No significant signal is observed for masses between 10.45 and 10.65 GeV/$c^2$. △ Less

Abstract: Belle II is an experiment operating at the intensity frontier. Over the next decades, it will record the decay of billions of bottom mesons, charm hadrons, and tau leptons produced in 10 GeV electron-positron collisions at the SuperKEKB high-luminosity collider at KEK. These data, collected in low-background and kinematically known conditions, will allow us to measure hundreds of parameters that t… ▽ More Belle II is an experiment operating at the intensity frontier. Over the next decades, it will record the decay of billions of bottom mesons, charm hadrons, and tau leptons produced in 10 GeV electron-positron collisions at the SuperKEKB high-luminosity collider at KEK. These data, collected in low-background and kinematically known conditions, will allow us to measure hundreds of parameters that test the standard model (SM) and probe for the existence of new particles, at mass scales orders of magnitudes higher than those studied at the energy frontier. We project our sensitivities for measurements that are of primary relevance and where Belle II will be unique or world leading for data corresponding to 1 to 50 ab$^{-1}$. Belle II will uniquely probe non-SM contributions in sensitive $b \to q\bar q s$ decays and charmless $b \to q\bar q d(u)$ decays, semileptonic $b \to s ν\barν$ and $s τ^+ τ^-$ decays, fully leptonic $b \to \ell ν$ decays, and select $c \to u$ processes. Belle II will lead exploration of non-SM physics in $b \to c τν$ and $b \to s γ$ decays and will most precisely determine the quark-mixing parameters $|V_{ub}|$ and $|V_{cb}|$. Belle II will measure many parameters in $τ$ physics to precisions that will be world leading for the foreseeable future, including the electric and magnetic dipole moments, branching fractions for charged-lepton-flavor-violating decays, and quantities that test lepton-flavor universality. Belle II will perform unique searches for dark-sector particles with masses in the MeV-GeV range. We will also pursue a broad spectroscopy program for conventional and multiquark $c \bar c$ and $b \bar b$ states and provide essential inputs to sharpen the interpretation of muon magnetic-anomaly results. Our exploration of uncharted regions of non-SM parameter space with high precision will reveal non-SM particles or set stringent constraints on their existence, guiding future endeavors. △ Less

We reconstruct $B^+\to ρ^+(\to π^+π^0(\to γγ))ρ^0(\to π^+π^-)$ decays in a sample of SuperKEKB electron-positron collisions collected by the Belle II experiment in 2019, 2020, and 2021 at the $Υ$(4S) resonance an… ▽ More We report on a Belle II measurement of the branching fraction ($\mathcal{B}$), longitudinal polarization fraction ($f_L$), and CP asymmetry ($\mathcal{A}_{CP}$) of $B^+\to ρ^+ρ^0$ decays. We reconstruct $B^+\to ρ^+(\to π^+π^0(\to γγ))ρ^0(\to π^+π^-)$ decays in a sample of SuperKEKB electron-positron collisions collected by the Belle II experiment in 2019, 2020, and 2021 at the $Υ$(4S) resonance and corresponding to 190 fb$^{-1}$ of integrated luminosity. We fit the distributions of the difference between expected and observed $B$ candidate energy, continuum-suppression discriminant, dipion masses, and decay angles of the selected samples, to determine a signal yield of $345 \pm 31$ events. The signal yields are corrected for efficiencies determined from simulation and control data samples to obtain $\mathcal{B}(B^+ \to ρ^+ρ^0) = [23.2^{+\ 2.2}_{-\ 2.1} (\rm stat) \pm 2.7 (\rm syst)]\times 10^{-6}$, $f_L = 0.943 ^{+\ 0.035}_{-\ 0.033} (\rm stat)\pm 0.027(\rm syst)$, and $\mathcal{A}_{CP}=-0.069 \pm 0.068(\rm stat) \pm 0.060 (\rm syst)$. The results agree with previous measurements. This is the first measurement of $\mathcal{A}_{CP}$ in $B^+\to ρ^+ρ^0$ decays reported by Belle II. △ Less

Abstract: Charged lepton flavor violation has long been recognized as unambiguous signature of New Physics. Here we describe the physics capabilities and discovery potential of New Physics models with charged lepton flavor violation in the tau sector as its experimental signature. Current experimental status from the B-Factory experiments BaBar, Belle and Belle II, and future prospects at Super Tau Charm Fa… ▽ More Charged lepton flavor violation has long been recognized as unambiguous signature of New Physics. Here we describe the physics capabilities and discovery potential of New Physics models with charged lepton flavor violation in the tau sector as its experimental signature. Current experimental status from the B-Factory experiments BaBar, Belle and Belle II, and future prospects at Super Tau Charm Factory, LHC, EIC and FCC-ee experiments to discover New Physics via charged lepton flavor violation in the tau sector are discussed in detail. First Measurement of the $Λ_c^+ \to p η'$ decay

Abstract: We present the first measurement of the branching fraction of the singly Cabibbo-suppressed (SCS) decay $Λ_c^+ \to p η'$ with $η' \to ηπ^+π^-$, using a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 981 $\rm fb^{-1}$, collected by the Belle detector at the KEKB $e^{+}$$e^{-}$ asymmetric-energy collider. Search for a light Higgs boson in single-photon decays of $Υ(1S)$ using $Υ(2S) \to π^+ π^- Υ(1S)$ tagging method

Abstract: We search for a light Higgs boson ($A^0$) decaying into a $τ^+τ^-$ or $μ^+μ^-$ pair in the radiative decays of $Υ(1S)$. The production of $Υ(1S)$ mesons is tagged by $Υ(2S)\to π^+ π^- Υ(1S)$ transitions, using 158 million $Υ(2S)$ events accumulated with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric energy electron-positron collider. We set the upper limits at 90\% credibility level (C.L.) on the product branching fractions for $Υ(1S)\to γA^0$ and $A^0\to τ^+τ^-$ varying from $3.8\times10^{-6}$ to $1.5\times10^{-4}$. Our results represent an approximately twofold improvement on the current world best upper limits for the $Υ(1S)\to γA^0(\to τ^+τ^-)$ production. For $A^0\to μ^+μ^-$, the upper limits on the product branching fractions for $Υ(1S)\to γA^0$ and $A^0\to μ^+μ^-$ are at the same level as the world average limits, and vary from $3.1\times10^{-7}$ to $1.6\times10^{-5}$. The upper limits at 90\% C.L. on the Yukawa coupling $f_{Υ(1S)}$ and mixing angle ${\rm sin}θ_{A^0}$ are also given. △ Less

Taking the decay $Ξ_c^0 \to Ξ^- \pip$ as the normalization mode, we measure the branching fraction ratio ${\cal B}(Ξ_c^0 \to ΛK_S^0)/{\cal B}(Ξ_c^0 \to Ξ^- π^+) = 0.229\pm0.008\pm0.012$ with improved precision, and measure the branching fraction ratios ${\cal B}(Ξ_c^0 \to Σ^0 K_S^0)/{\cal B}(Ξ_c^0 \to Ξ^- π^+) = 0.038\pm0.006\pm0.004$ and ${\cal B}(Ξ_c^0 \to Σ^+ K^-)/{\cal B}(Ξ_c^0 \to Ξ^- π^+) = 0.123\pm0.007\pm0.010$ for the first time. Taking into account the branching fraction of the normalization mode, the absolute branching fractions are determined to be ${\cal B}(Ξ_c^0 \to ΛK_S^0) = (3.27\pm0.11\pm0.17\pm0.73) \times 10^{-3}$, ${\cal B}(Ξ_c^0 \to Σ^0 K_S^0) = (0.54\pm 0.09\pm 0.06\pm 0.12) \times 10^{-3}$, and ${\cal B}(Ξ_c^0 \to Σ^+ K^-) = (1.76\pm 0.10\pm0.14\pm 0.39) \times 10^{-3}$. The first and second uncertainties above are statistical and systematic, respectively, while the third ones arise from the uncertainty of the branching fraction of $Ξ_c^0 \to Ξ^- π^+$. △ Less

In our search we fully reconstruct the companion $B$ meson produced in the process $e^{+}e^{-}\rightarrowΥ(4S)\rightarrow B\bar{B}$ from its hadronic decay modes, and look for the decay $B^{0}\rightarrow K^{\ast 0}τ^{+}τ^{-}$ in the rest of the event. No evidence for a signal is found. We report an upper limit on the branching fraction $\mathcal{B}({B^{0}\rightarrow K^{\ast 0}τ^{+}τ^{-}})<3.1\times 10^{-3}$ at 90\% confidence level. We reconstruct $B^+\to ρ^+(\to π^+π^0(\to γγ))ρ^0(\to π^+π^-)$ decays in a sample of SuperKEKB electron-positron collisions collected by the Belle II experiment in 2019 and 2020 at the $Υ$(4S) resonance and corresponding to $62.8$ fb$^{-1}$ of integrated luminosity. We fit the distributions of the difference between expected and observed $B$ candidate energy, continuum-suppression variable, dipion masses, and angular distributions of the resulting samples, to determine a signal yield of $104\pm16$ events. The signal yields are corrected for efficiencies determined from simulation and control data samples to obtain $\mathcal{B}(B^+ \to ρ^+ρ^0) = [20.6 \pm 3.2(\rm stat) \pm 4.0(\rm syst)]\times 10^{-6}$, and $f_L(B^+ \to ρ^+ρ^0) = 0.936 ^{+0.049}_{-0.041}(\rm stat)\pm 0.021(\rm syst)$. This first Belle II $B^+ \to ρ^+ρ^0$ angular analysis yields results compatible with previous determinations, and indicates Belle II performance superior to early Belle results. △ Less

We use simulation to determine optimized event selections. The $ΔE$ and $M_{\rm bc}$ distributions of the resulting samples are fit to determine signal yields of approximately 690, 840, and 380 decays for the channels $B^+ \to K^+K^-K^+$, $B^+ \to K^+π^-π^+$, and $B^0 \to K^+π^-π^0$, respectively. These yields are corrected for efficiencies determined from simulation and control data samples to obtain $\mathcal{B}(B^+ \to K^+K^-K^+) = [35.8 \pm 1.6(\rm stat) \pm 1.4 (\rm syst)]\times 10^{-6}$, $\mathcal{B}(B^+ \to K^+π^-π^+) = [67.0 \pm 3.3 (\rm stat)\pm 2.3 (\rm syst)]\times 10^{-6}$, $\mathcal{B}(B^0 \to K^+π^-π^0) = [38.1 \pm 3.5 (\rm stat)\pm 3.9 (\rm syst)]\times 10^{-6}$, $\mathcal{A}_{\rm CP}(B^+ \to K^+K^-K^+) = -0.103 \pm 0.042(\rm stat) \pm 0.020 (\rm syst)$, $\mathcal{A}_{\rm CP}(B^+ \to K^+π^-π^+) = -0.010 \pm 0.050 (\rm stat)\pm 0.021(\rm syst)$, and $\mathcal{A}_{\rm CP}(B^0 \to K^+π^-π^0) = 0.207 \pm 0.088 (\rm stat)\pm 0.011(\rm syst)$. Measurements of $q^2$ Moments of Inclusive $B \rightarrow X_c \ell^+ ν_{\ell}$ Decays with Hadronic Tagging

Abstract: We present the measurement of the first to fourth order moments of the four-momentum transfer squared, $q^2$, of inclusive $B \rightarrow X_c \ell^+ ν_{\ell}$ decays using the full Belle data set of 711 $\mathrm{fb}^{-1}$ of integrated luminosity at the $Υ(4S)$ resonance where $\ell = e, μ$. The determination of these moments and their systematic uncertainties open new pathways to determine the ab… ▽ More We present the measurement of the first to fourth order moments of the four-momentum transfer squared, $q^2$, of inclusive $B \rightarrow X_c \ell^+ ν_{\ell}$ decays using the full Belle data set of 711 $\mathrm{fb}^{-1}$ of integrated luminosity at the $Υ(4S)$ resonance where $\ell = e, μ$. The determination of these moments and their systematic uncertainties open new pathways to determine the absolute value of the CKM matrix element $V_{cb}$ using a reduced set of matrix elements of the heavy quark expansion. In order to identify and reconstruct the $X_c$ system, we reconstruct one of the two $B$-mesons using machine learning techniques in fully hadronic decay modes. The moments are measured with progressively increasing threshold selections on $q^2$ starting with a lower value of 3.0 $\mathrm{GeV}^2$ in steps of 0.5 $\mathrm{GeV}^2$ up to a value of 10.0 $\mathrm{GeV}^2$. The measured moments are further unfolded, correcting for reconstruction and selection effects as well as QED final state radiation. We reconstruct and select about $50$ $B^0 \to K_S^0 π^0$ candidates, and we measure $\mathcal{A}_{K^0π^0} = -0.40_{-0.44}^{+0.46} (\text{stat}) \pm 0.04 (\text{syst})$ and $\mathcal{B}(B^0 \to K^0 π^0) = [8.5_{-1.6}^{+1.7} (\text{stat}) \pm 1.2 (\text{syst})] \times 10^{-6}$. This is the first measurement of $CP$ violation in $B^0 \to K^0π^0$ decays reported by Belle II. The branching fractions are measured to be ${\cal B}(Ξ_{c}^{0} \to Ξ^{-} e^{+} ν_{e})=(1.31 \pm 0.04 \pm 0.07 \pm 0.38)\%$ and ${\cal B}(Ξ_{c}^{0} \to Ξ^{-} μ^{+} ν_μ)=(1.27 \pm 0.06 \pm 0.10 \pm 0.37)\%$, and the decay parameter $α_{Ξπ}$ is measured to be $0.63 \pm 0.03 \pm 0.01$ with much improved precision compared to the current world average. The corresponding ratio ${\cal B}(Ξ_{c}^{0} \to Ξ^{-} e^{+} ν_{e})/{\cal B}(Ξ_{c}^{0} \to Ξ^{-} μ^{+} ν_μ)$ is $1.03 \pm 0.05\pm 0.07$, which is consistent with the expectation of lepton flavor universality. The first measured asymmetry parameter ${\cal A}_{CP} = (α_{Ξ^{-}π^{+}} + α_{\barΞ^{+}π^{-}})/(α_{Ξ^{-}π^{+}} - α_{\barΞ^{+}π^{-}}) = 0.024 \pm 0.052 \pm 0.014$ is found to be consistent with zero. The first and the second uncertainties above are statistical and systematic, respectively, while the third ones arise due to the uncertainty of the $Ξ_{c}^{0} \to Ξ^{-} π^+$ branching fraction. △ Less

The signal yield of the $Λ_c^+ \to p η$ process is $7734 \pm 263$; from this, we measure the ratio of branching fractions ${\cal B}(Λ_c^+ \to p η)/{\cal B}(Λ_c^+ \to p K^- π^+) = (2.258 \pm 0. 077(\rm stat. ) \pm 0.136(\rm syst. ))\times 10^{-2}$, from which we infer the branching fraction ${\cal B}(Λ_c^+ \to p η) = (1.42 \pm 0.05(\rm stat.) \pm 0.11(\rm syst.)) \times 10^{-3}$. In addition, no significant signal for $Λ_c^+ \to p π^0$ is found so an upper limit on the branching fraction of ${\cal B}(Λ_c^+ \to p π^0)<8.0 \times 10^{-5}$ at 90\% credibility level is set, more than three times better than the best current upper limit. △ Less

Abstract: We search for lepton-number- and baryon-number-violating decays $τ^{-}\to\overline{p}e^{+}e^{-}$, $pe^{-}e^{-}$, $\overline{p}e^{+}μ^{-}$, $\overline{p}e^{-}μ^{+}$, $\overline{p}μ^{+}μ^{-}$, and $pμ^{-}μ^{-}$ using 921 fb$^{-1}$ of data, equivalent to $(841\pm12)\times 10^6$ $τ^{+}τ^{-}$ events, recorded with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy $e^{+}e^{-}$ collider. Abstract: We report on first measurements of branching fractions~($\mathcal{B}$) and CP-violating charge asymmetries~($\mathcal{A}$) in charmless $B$ decays at Belle~II. We use a sample of electron-positron collisions collected in 2019 and 2020 at the $Υ(4S)$ resonance and corresponding to $34.6$\,fb$^{-1}$ of integrated luminosity. We use simulation to determine optimized event selections. The $ΔE$ distrib… ▽ More We report on first measurements of branching fractions~($\mathcal{B}$) and CP-violating charge asymmetries~($\mathcal{A}$) in charmless $B$ decays at Belle~II. We use a sample of electron-positron collisions collected in 2019 and 2020 at the $Υ(4S)$ resonance and corresponding to $34.6$\,fb$^{-1}$ of integrated luminosity. We use simulation to determine optimized event selections. The $ΔE$ distributions of the resulting samples, restricted in $M_{\rm bc}$, are fit to determine signal yields. Signal yields are corrected for efficiencies determined from simulation and control data samples to obtain branching fractions and CP-violating asymmetries for flavour-specific channels. These are the first measurements in charmless decays reported by Belle~II. Results are compatible with known determinations and show detector performance comparable with the best Belle results offering a reliable basis to assess projections for future reach. △ Less

These asymmetries include the previously published HERMES results on Collins and Sivers asymmetries, the analysis of which has been extended to include protons and antiprotons and also to an extraction in a three-dimensional kinematic binning and enlarged phase space. They are complemented by corresponding results for the remaining four single-spin and four double-spin asymmetries allowed in the one-photon-exchange approximation of the semi-inclusive deep-inelastic scattering process for target-polarization orientation perpendicular to the direction of the incoming lepton beam. Among those results, significant non-vanishing $\cos{φ-φ_S}$ modulations provide evidence for a sizable worm-gear (II) distribution, $g_{1T}$. Evidence for a vector charmonium-like state in $e^+e^- \to D^+_sD^*_{s2}(2573)^-+c.c.$

The signal yields for these decays are extract… ▽ More Using the data sample of 711 fb$^{-1}$ of $Υ(4S)$ on-resonance data taken by the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy electron-positron collider, we present the first measurements of branching fractions of the decays $B^{-} \to \barΛ_{c}^{-} Ξ_{c}^{'0}$, $B^{-} \to \barΛ_{c}^{-} Ξ_{c}(2645)^{0}$, and $B^{-} \to \barΛ_{c}^{-} Ξ_{c}(2790)^{0} $. The signal yields for these decays are extracted from the recoil mass spectrum of the system recoiling against $\barΛ_{c}^{-}$ baryons in selected $B^-$ candidates. The branching fraction of $B^{-} \to \barΛ_{c}^{-} Ξ_{c}(2790)^{0}$ is measured to be $ (1.1 \pm 0.4 \pm 0.2)\times 10^{-3}$, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second systematic. The 90\% credibility level upper limits on ${\cal B}(B^{-} \to \barΛ_{c}^{-} Ξ_{c}^{'0})$ and ${\cal B}(B^{-} \to \barΛ_{c}^{-} Ξ_{c}(2645)^{0})$ are determined to be $6.5\times 10^{-4}$ and $7.9\times 10^{-4}$, respectively. △ Less

We measure the absolute branching fraction of $\bar{B}^{0} \to \barΛ_{c}^{-} Ξ_{c}^{+}$ with the $Ξ_c^+$ recoiling against $\barΛ_c^-$ in $\bar{B}^0$ decays resulting in ${\cal B}(\bar{B}^{0} \to \barΛ_{c}^{-} Ξ_{c}^{+}) = [1.16 \pm 0.42(\rm stat.) \pm 0.15(\rm syst.)] \times 10^{-3}$. We then measure the product branching fractions ${\cal B}(\bar{B}^{0} \to \barΛ_c^- Ξ_c^+){\cal B}(Ξ_c^+ \to Ξ^- π^+ π^+)$ and ${\cal B}(\bar{B}^{0} \to \barΛ_c^- Ξ_c^+){\cal B}(Ξ_c^+ \to p K^- π^+)$. Dividing these product branching fractions by $\bar{B}^{0} \to \barΛ_{c}^{-} Ξ_{c}^{+}$ yields: ${\cal B}(Ξ_c^+ \to Ξ^- π^+ π^+) = [2.86 \pm 1.21(\rm stat.) \pm 0.38(\rm syst.)]\%$ and ${\cal B}(Ξ_c^+ \to p K^- π^+)=[0.45 \pm 0.21(\rm stat.) \pm 0.07(\rm syst.)]\%$. Our result for ${\cal B}(Ξ_c^+ \to Ξ^- π^+ π^+)$ can be combined with $Ξ_c^+$ branching fractions measured relative to $Ξ_c^+ \to Ξ^- π^+ π^+$ to set the absolute scale for many $Ξ_c^+$ branching fractions. △ Less

Abstract: A comprehensive collection of results on longitudinal double-spin asymmetries is presented for charged pions and kaons produced in semi-inclusive deep-inelastic scattering of electrons and positrons on the proton and deuteron, based on the full HERMES data set. Belle II collected its first collisions in 2018, and is expected to operate for the next decade. It is anticipated to collect 50/ab of collision data over its lifetime. This book is the outcome of a joint effort of Belle II collaborators and theorists through the Belle II theory interface platform (B2TiP), an effort that commenced in 2014. The aim of B2TiP was to elucidate the potential impacts of the Belle II program, which includes a wide scope of physics topics: B physics, charm, tau, quarkonium, electroweak precision measurements and dark sector searches. It is composed of nine working groups (WGs), which are coordinated by teams of theorist and experimentalists conveners: Semileptonic and leptonic B decays, Radiative and Electroweak penguins, phi_1 and phi_2 (time-dependent CP violation) measurements, phi_3 measurements, Charmless hadronic B decay, Charm, Quarkonium(like), tau and low-multiplicity processes, new physics and global fit analyses. This book highlights "golden- and silver-channels", i.e. those that would have the highest potential impact in the field. Theorists scrutinised the role of those measurements and estimated the respective theoretical uncertainties, achievable now as well as prospects for the future. Using a sum-of-exclusive technique with invariant $X_s$ mass up to 2.8~GeV/$c^2$, we obtain $Δ_{0-} = \bigl[-0.48 \pm 1.49 {\rm (stat.)} \pm 0.97 {\rm (syst.)} \pm 1.15 {(f_{+-}/f_{00})}\bigr]$\% and $ΔA_{CP} = \bigl[+3.69 \pm 2.65 {\rm (stat.)} \pm 0.76{\rm (syst.)}\bigr]$\%, where the last uncertainty for $Δ_{0-}$ is due to the uncertainty on the production ratio of $B^+B^-$ to $B^0\bar{B}^0$ in $Υ(4S)$ decays. The measured value of $Δ_{0-}$ is consistent with zero, allowing us to constrain the resolved photon contribution in the $B \to X_s γ$, and improve the branching fraction prediction. The result for $ΔA_{CP}$ is consistent with the prediction of the SM. We also measure the direct $CP$ asymmetries for charged and neutral $B \to X_s γ$ decays. We also measure $\cal{B}(\bar{B}^{0} \to \bar{K}^{0} Λ_{c}^{+} \barΛ_{c}^{-}) = [3.99 \pm 0.76(\rm stat.) \pm 0.51(\rm syst.)] \times 10^{-4}$ with greater precision than previous experiments, and present the results of a search for the charmonium-like state $Y(4660)$ and its spin partner, $Y_η$, in the $Λ_{c}^{+}\barΛ_{c}^{-}$ invariant mass spectrum. No clear signals of the $Y(4660)$ or $Y_η$ are observed and the 90\% credibility level (C.L.) upper limits on their production rates are determined. The inclusive branching fractions of the $Υ(1S)$ and $Υ(2S)$ decays into final states with $f_1(1285)$ are measured to be ${\cal B}(Υ(1S)\to f_1(1285)+anything)=(46\pm28({\rm stat.})\pm13({\rm syst.}))\times 10^{-4}$ and ${\cal B}(Υ(2S)\to f_1(1285)+anything)=(22\pm15({\rm stat.})\pm6.3({\rm syst.}))\times 10^{-4}$. The measured $χ_{b2} \to J/ψ+ anything$ branching fraction is measured to be $(1.50\pm0.34({\rm stat.})\pm0.22({\rm syst.}))\times 10^{-3}$, and 90\% C.L. upper limits for the $χ_{b0,b1} \to J/ψ+ anything$ branching fractions are found to be $2.3\times 10^{-3}$ and $1.1\times 10^{-3}$, respectively. For ${\cal B}(χ_{b1} \to ω+ anything)$, the branching fraction is measured to be $(4.9\pm1.3({\rm stat.})\pm0.6({\rm syst.}))\times 10^{-2}$. %($<3.68\times 10^{-2}$ at 90\% C.L.). Ratios of helicity amplitudes for exclusive $ρ^0$ electroproduction on transversely polarized protons

Abstract: Exclusive $ρ^0$-meson electroproduction is studied by the HERMES experiment, using the 27.6 GeV longitudinally polarized electron/positron beam of HERA and a transversely polarized hydrogen target, in the kinematic region 1.0 GeV$^2$<Q$^2$<7.0 GeV$^2$, 3.0 GeV<W<6.3 GeV, and -t'<0.4 GeV$^2$. These determine the real and imag… ▽ More Exclusive $ρ^0$-meson electroproduction is studied by the HERMES experiment, using the 27.6 GeV longitudinally polarized electron/positron beam of HERA and a transversely polarized hydrogen target, in the kinematic region 1.0 GeV$^2$<Q$^2$<7.0 GeV$^2$, 3.0 GeV<W<6.3 GeV, and -t'<0.4 GeV$^2$. Using an unbinned maximum-likelihood method, 25 parameters are extracted. These determine the real and imaginary parts of the ratios of several helicity amplitudes describing $ρ^0$-meson production by a virtual photon. The denominator of those ratios is the dominant amplitude, the nucleon-helicity-non-flip amplitude $F_{0\frac{1}{2}0\frac{1}{2}}$, which describes the production of a longitudinal $ρ^{0}$-meson by a longitudinal virtual photon. The ratios of nucleon-helicity-non-flip amplitudes are found to be in good agreement with those from the previous HERMES analysis. The transverse target polarization allows for the first time the extraction of ratios of a number of nucleon-helicity-flip amplitudes to $F_{0\frac{1}{2}0\frac{1}{2}}$. Results obtained in a handbag approach based on generalized parton distributions taking into account the contribution from pion exchange are found to be in good agreement with these ratios. Within the model, the data favor a positive sign for the $π-ρ$ transition form factor. By also exploiting the longitudinal beam polarization, a total of 71 $ρ^0$ spin-density matrix elements is determined from the extracted 25 parameters, in contrast to only 53 elements as directly determined in earlier analyses. △ Less

Search for $XYZ$ states in $Υ(1S)$ inclusive decays

This document is a summary of a workshop on future physics with HERA data held at DESY, Hamburg at the end of 2014. All areas of HERA physics are covered and contributions from both experimentalists and theorists are included. The document… ▽ More Recent highlights from the HERA experiments, Hermes, H1 and ZEUS, are reviewed and ideas for future analyses to fully exploit this unique data set are proposed. This document is a summary of a workshop on future physics with HERA data held at DESY, Hamburg at the end of 2014. All areas of HERA physics are covered and contributions from both experimentalists and theorists are included. The document outlines areas where HERA physics can still make a significant contribution, principally in a deeper understanding of QCD, and its relevance to other facilities. Within the framework of the Data Preservation in High Energy Physics, the HERA data have been preserved for analyses to take place over a timescale of 10 years and more. Therefore, although an extensive list of possibilities is presented here, safe storage of the data ensures that it can also be used in the far future should new ideas and analyses be proposed. △ Less

Abstract: Hard exclusive electroproduction of $ω$ mesons is studied with the HERMES spectrometer at the DESY laboratory by scattering 27.6 GeV positron and electron beams off a transversely polarized hydrogen target. The amplitudes of five azimuthal modulations of the single-spin asymmetry of the cross section with respect to the transverse proton polarization are measured. Abstract: Using data samples of $102\times10^6$ $Υ(1S)$ and $158\times10^6$ $Υ(2S)$ events collected with the Belle detector, a first experimental search has been made for double-charmonium production in the exclusive decays $Υ(1S,2S)\rightarrow J/ψ(ψ')+X$, where $X=η_c$, $χ_{cJ} (J=~0,~1,~2)$, $η_c(2S)$, $X(3940)$, and $X(4160)$. No significant signal is observed in the spectra of the mass recoiling agains… ▽ More Using data samples of $102\times10^6$ $Υ(1S)$ and $158\times10^6$ $Υ(2S)$ events collected with the Belle detector, a first experimental search has been made for double-charmonium production in the exclusive decays $Υ(1S,2S)\rightarrow J/ψ(ψ')+X$, where $X=η_c$, $χ_{cJ} (J=~0,~1,~2)$, $η_c(2S)$, $X(3940)$, and $X(4160)$. No significant signal is observed in the spectra of the mass recoiling against the reconstructed $J/ψ$ or $ψ'$ except for the evidence of $χ_{c1}$ production with a significance of $4.6σ$ for $Υ(1S)\rightarrow J/ψ+χ_{c1}$. The measured branching fraction $\BR(Υ(1S)\rightarrow J/ψ+χ_{c1})$ is $(3.90\pm1.21(\rm stat.)\pm0.23 (\rm syst.))\times10^{-6}$. The $90\%$ confidence level upper limits on the branching fractions of the other modes having a significance of less than $3σ$ are determined. These results are consistent with theoretical calculations using the nonrelativistic QCD factorization approach. △ Less
