Privacy-Preserving Data Linkage Across Private and Public Datasets for Collaborative Agriculture Research

This study introduces a privacy-preserving framework that addresses these risks while allowing secure data sharing for digital agriculture. Our framework enables comprehensive data analysis while protecting privacy. It allows stakeholders to harness research-driven policies that link public and private datasets. The proposed algorithm achieves this by: (1) identifying similar farmers based on private datasets, (2) providing aggregate information like time and location, (3) determining trends in price and product availability, and (4) correlating trends with public policy data, such as food insecurity statistics. We validate the framework with real-world Farmer's Market datasets, demonstrating its efficacy through machine learning models trained on linked privacy-preserved data. The results support policymakers and researchers in addressing food insecurity and pricing issues. Detection-Driven Object Count Optimization for Text-to-Image Diffusion Models

Abstract: Accurately controlling object count in text-to-image generation remains a key challenge. Supervised methods often fail, as training data rarely covers all count variations. Methods that manipulate the denoising process to add or remove objects can help; however, they still require labeled data, limit robustness and image quality, and rely on a slow, iterative process. Supervised methods often fail, as training data rarely covers all count variations. Methods that manipulate the denoising process to add or remove objects can help; however, they still require labeled data, limit robustness and image quality, and rely on a slow, iterative process. Pre-trained differentiable counting models that rely on soft object density summation exist and could steer generation, but employing them presents three main challenges: (i) they are pre-trained on clean images, making them less effective during denoising steps that operate on noisy inputs; (ii) they are not robust to viewpoint changes; and (iii) optimization is computationally expensive, requiring repeated model evaluations per image. We propose a new framework that uses pre-trained object counting techniques and object detectors to guide generation. First, we optimize a counting token using an outer-loop loss computed on fully generated images. Second, we introduce a detection-driven scaling term that corrects errors caused by viewpoint and proportion shifts, among other factors, without requiring backpropagation through the detection model. Third, we show that the optimized parameters can be reused for new prompts, removing the need for repeated optimization. Our method provides efficiency through token reuse, flexibility via compatibility with various detectors, and accuracy with improved counting across diverse object categories. △ Less

LINX: A Language Driven Generative System for Goal-Oriented Automated Data Exploration

While in some cases the user explores a new dataset to become familiar with it, more often, the exploration process is conducted with a specific analysis goal or question in mind. To assist users in exploring a new dataset, Automated Data Exploration (ADE) systems have been devised in previous work. These systems aim to auto-generate a full exploration session, containing a sequence of queries that showcase interesting elements of the data. However, existing ADE systems are often constrained by a predefined objective function, thus always generating the same session for a given dataset. Therefore, their effectiveness in goal-oriented exploration, in which users need to answer specific questions about the data, are extremely limited. To this end, this paper presents LINX, a generative system augmented with a natural language interface for goal-oriented ADE. Given an input dataset and an analytical goal described in natural language, LINX generates a personalized exploratory session that is relevant to the user's goal. LINX utilizes a Large Language Model (LLM) to interpret the input analysis goal, and then derive a set of specifications for the desired output exploration session. These specifications are then transferred to a novel, modular ADE engine based on Constrained Deep Reinforcement Learning (CDRL), which can adapt its output according to the specified instructions. To validate LINX's effectiveness, we introduce a new benchmark dataset for goal-oriented exploration and conduct an extensive user study. Our analysis underscores LINX's superior capability in producing exploratory notebooks that are significantly more relevant and beneficial than those generated by existing solutions, including ChatGPT, goal-agnostic ADE, and commercial systems. △ Less
